III. Detoxifying Masculinity: A Conversation with Ross Victory and Cameron Wisch

Cameron Wisch is an LA based multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer.

For the past twenty years Cameron has been writing, recording, and performing internationally. You may have caught him on the road drumming for Porches, Sheer Mag, and Ra Ra Riot, or singing and playing guitar with Cende. His signature drumming has wowed audiences around the world, infusing incredible technical proficiency, deep grooves, and a spice of chaotic mathy-ness to keep you on your toes. Cameron found his voice as a songwriter and producer with his band Cende, producing and arranging their 2017 album "#1 Hit Single”. The record incorporates lush string arrangements, soaring guitar lines, and beautiful heartfelt vocals. Soon after he went on to produce Dominic Sen’s 2019 sci-fi fantasy pop jewel “Visitor”.

Currently Cameron is writing, recording, and producing an LP with his new band The Chains, teaching remote music students, and studying Indian classical percussion.

Sondra Sun-Odeon is a Los Angeles/Brooklyn based vocalist, composer, and artist.

A classically-trained pianist and self-taught guitar player, her music and performance work aims to describe the inexpressible, and reach for what is higher-than, and beyond the realms of our tangible everyday lives. Her hard-to-define sound mixes elements of art rock, experimental noise, ethereal shoegaze, Sabbath-y moments, and lyrical song; heartbreak and longing drip from lyrics alongside regal conviction and graceful rage. Woven together by a voice in the process of rewilding and a songwriting sensibility that has its own rules and tunings; Sun-Odeon’s music creates an untamed, darkly compelling world to be transported by.

Recorded/engineered/co-produced by Alex DeGroot (Zola Jesus), her new album DESYRE includes collaborators Thor Harris (SWANS), J.R. Bohannon (Ancient Ocean), Lia Simone Braswell (A Place to Bury Strangers), and Mary Lattimore on harp. Out now on Graveface Records.

J. Ross Victory (Ross) is an American singer/songwriter. Raised on the smooth soul of the 90s, and crediting Jon B., Donnel Jones, and Babyface as musical influences, Ross delivers catchy lyrics and syrupy serenades to capture listeners. After two significant losses—his father and brother, and several years in corporate America, Ross finds himself pushed to share his art again, now with a clear understanding of its healing ability. Ross's experiences come across thoughtfully, through multi-layered lyrics and sincere, smoky vocals and lyrics. As an accomplished author, he ties music and literature together in a unique, heartfelt way by abstracting relatable themes and sentiments for listeners around the world.
